Netflix announced in its earnings report on Thursday that customers on the $11.99 per month Basic Plan will need to select a new option soon. The Basic Plan has already been phased out in Canada and Great Britain and will now be eliminated in the U.S. and France.
The company also shared that it is experiencing growth in advertising revenue since introducing ad-supported plans 18 months ago. While advertising is not currently a main source of income for Netflix, it is rapidly increasing in significance.

Netflix’s CFO, Spencer Adam Neumann, hinted that advertising could become a primary revenue source for the service by 2026. The streaming giant is also venturing into live events, with recent agreements with the WWE and plans to broadcast two NFL games on Christmas Day.
What are the available options now?
If you prefer an ad-free experience, Netflix’s Standard Plan is priced at $15.49 per month. It offers no ads, full HD content, and simultaneous streaming on two devices, with the option to add an extra member from outside your household.
For those open to ads, the ad-supported plan is available for $6.99 per month. This plan includes full HD content and simultaneous streaming on two devices, but does not allow for an extra member addition.
The most expensive plan, at $22.99 per month, provides four simultaneous streams and is the only plan offering content in Ultra HD.
