Chiefs president Mark Donovan discussed the possibility of relocating the team to Kansas if a new stadium in Missouri faces obstacles. Donovan stated, “Every option is on the table,” regarding the Chiefs’ plans for a new stadium. While the Chiefs are committed to playing home games at Arrowhead Stadium through the 2030 season and have an agreement with Jackson County (Mo.) until 2031, they are exploring the potential of a new stadium in Kansas using STAR bonds for financing. Donovan emphasized the importance of determining the franchise’s direction by the end of the season, taking into consideration the fans, the organization, and the impact on the region. He added, “This is a generational decision. This is going to impact the future of this franchise for generations. We got to get it right.” Donovan previously outlined three possible options for a new stadium and introduced the “Arrowhead Reimagined” project with an $800 million renovation plan. Despite Jackson County rejecting a ballot proposal for funding a new stadium for the Royals and renovating Arrowhead, Donovan expressed the need for binding agreements with the state and county before proceeding with any public vote. He emphasized the importance of having all details and agreements in place to secure the franchise’s future. –Field Level Media
