PARIS, France- Jacques Grochowski is the real French Montanan.
Born in Bozeman, and splitting time between the mountain west and Paris, France, Grochowski’s dad is from France and brings his roots and tradition to Montana.
“I was fortunate enough to be raised with a dual nationality,” Grochowski said, “My father is from Paris and my mother is from Montana.”
Grochowski’s father and stepmother are household names in the Bozeman area and own La Châtelaine Chocolat Co.
Even though he’s got a significant amount of French influence, his Montana roots are there. He’s a proud Montana State University graduate, Go Cats.
Far from Montana, he now calls Pairs home.
“I’m taking advantage of my dual nationality to study in France, by next fall I’m going to be attending business school,” Grochowski said.
In Grochowski’s opinion, France has many of the top business schools in the world, and he is working on preparations for the testing needed to enter one of those schools.
The time there now gives him a chance to experience international school and engage with people from many different backgrounds, he also adds it’s cheaper.
“How could you not miss Montana,” Grochowski said.
He’s excited about the Olympics, he has enjoyed watching all the preparation but he won’t have a front row seat
“I’m not going to be here for the Olympics,” Grochowski said, “I’m actually going to be watching them from my home in Bozeman.”
But here’s the thing, he will definitely be watching and so will most of his generation.
Solutions data suggests, Gen Z prefers the Summer Games to the Winter Games, and that more than two-thirds of Gen Z are likely to tune into the Summer Olympics
Viewership trends for the Olympics among Gen Z are equal to the Super Bowl.
“I think the Olympics are becoming more popular each year with the addition of the new sports,” Grochowski.
That was the goal, and that’s why the Olympics added new sports like skateboarding and break dancing to bring the new audience in.
“I have some family that participates in breakdancing so I would love to watch that,” Grochowski said, “I’ve always been interested in skateboarding so I’ll be watching that.”
Grochowski says it’s highly likely that his family will watch the games together and host a party to celebrate the opening and closing ceremony. He will return to Paris towards the end of the summer to continue with his studying.
But he adds that Montana is where his heart is.
