Following the RNC and the attempted assassination of GOP nominee Donald Trump, Rep. Ronny Jackson, a former White House doctor turned member of Congress, has provided an assessment of Trump’s well-being. In a letter addressed to concerned citizens of the United States, Rep. Jackson stated that he has been with Trump since the evening of the assassination attempt, when Trump quickly returned to his home in Bedminster, N.J. after the incident at the Pennsylvania rally.
According to the statement released by Rep. Jackson, the bullet came very close to entering Trump’s head, but ultimately struck the top of his right ear. It resulted in a 2 cm wide wound that extended down to the cartilaginous surface of the ear. Initially, there was significant bleeding and swelling of the upper ear.
The assessment mentioned that the swelling has subsided, and the wound is now healing properly. Due to the nature of the wound, no sutures were necessary. Rep. Jackson noted that Trump was initially treated at a hospital in Pennsylvania and then met with him in Bedminster. While Rep. Jackson is not Trump’s primary care physician, he confirmed that Trump would follow up with his doctor as directed by the medical staff who initially treated him.
Rep. Jackson also mentioned that he would accompany Trump to a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and remain by his side throughout the weekend. He plans to return to Washington on Monday before heading home to Amarillo, Texas. Trump shared the letter from Rep. Jackson on his Truth Social platform.
Earlier in the week, Eric Trump criticized the security failure at the Pennsylvania rally, expressing concerns about the Secret Service’s competence. He emphasized the need for introspection within the organization to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
