SPOKANE, Wash. — Montana State and UC Davis players were voted as the Big Sky Conference preseason defensive and offensive MVPs.
Cats senior defensive end Brody Grebe was tabbed the defensive MVP. Aggies senior running back Lan Larison was chosen as the offensive MVP.
Grebe, a Melstone native, is a two-time All-American and a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, which is given to the FCS defensive player of the year. He is wearing MSU’s No. 41 legacy jersey this fall.
Larison, from Caldwell, Idaho, was named the Big Sky offensive MVP at the conclusion of the 2023 season. He led the conference in rushing yards per game, was second in total rushing yards and third in rushing touchdowns despite playing in only eight games.
Other preseason offensive MVP nominees were Eastern Washington wide receiver Efton Chism III, Idaho State wide receiver Christian Fredericksen, Montana running back Eli Gillman, Montana State quarterback Tommy Mellott and Portland State quarterback Dante Chachere.

Other nominees for preseason defensive MVP were Cal Poly defensive end Elijah Ponder, Idaho State defensive lineman Corton Horton, Montana linebacker Riley Wilson, Northern Arizona defensive back Alex McLaughlin and UC Davis defensive back Rex Connors.
