Playing in afternoon temperatures approaching 100 degrees, the Missoula PaddleHeads took the rubber game of their best-of-3 home series with the Glacier Range Riders Sunday, 8-5.
Zootown’s pro baseball team improved its Pioneer League-best record to 42-12 with its seventh win in eight games. The Range Riders fell to 30-24 with their sixth loss in seven games.
Glacier jumped to a 3-1 lead in the third inning before Missoula took the lead for good with four in the bottom half. Two scored on a Jaylon Lee base hit, making the score 5-3.
Collin Runge’s solo home run in the sixth helped the hosts stretch their lead to 8-3. Glacier managed a run in the seventh and ninth but Missoula benefited from solid relief pitching by Mark Timmins, Noah McBride and Ethan Swanson.
Alfredo Villa (5-1) earned the win. He allowed three runs on six hits with 10 strikeouts in six innings.Â

Both teams finished with eight hits. Lee had three singles and three RBIs and Runge a double to go with his home run.
Missoula will start a six-game home series with rival Billings on Tuesday night.
