The Minnesota Vikings have reached an agreement with left tackle Christian Darrisaw on a four-year contract extension, keeping him with the team until the 2029 season. Reports indicate the extension is worth up to $113 million, with $77 million guaranteed, including $43.7 million guaranteed at signing. Darrisaw, aged 25, had two years left on his rookie contract, and the Vikings exercised his fifth-year option for 2025, guaranteed at $16.037 million. With an average annual salary of $28.25 million, Darrisaw surpasses Detroit Lions right tackle Penei Sewell as the highest-paid offensive lineman in the league (Sewell signed for four years, $112 million at $28 million per year). The Vikings drafted Darrisaw in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft from Virginia Tech. He has started 39 out of 41 games, including all 15 games in 2023, where he played a career-high 982 snaps. In 2023, Pro Football Focus ranked Darrisaw third in pass-blocking grade (85.3) for offensive linemen with at least 50% of their team’s snaps and fourth in overall offensive grade (85.1) for all offensive linemen with at least 100 snaps. Darrisaw missed five games in 2021, three in 2022, and two in the last season due to minor injuries. –Field Level Media
