Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is not expected to join his teammates at the beginning of training camp, as reported by multiple media outlets on Tuesday night. The Cowboys are starting camp on Wednesday and have their first practice scheduled for Thursday, but Lamb did not travel from Dallas to Oxnard, Calif., with the team on Tuesday, according to the reports. Lamb is set to earn $17.99 million this season before becoming an unrestricted free agent. Despite seeking a contract extension from the Cowboys, Lamb has not received one, leading to his current holdout. In June, Lamb was absent from Dallas’ mandatory minicamp, resulting in approximately $100,000 in fines. The fines may be waived by the Cowboys, unlike the daily $50,000 fine Lamb would face if he decides to skip training camp. Lamb, 25, is coming off his best season in his four-year career, with 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns — all career highs. He led the NFL in catches in 2023, with Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins and Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions close behind with 119 receptions each. In his four seasons with Dallas, Lamb has accumulated 395 catches for 5,145 yards and 32 touchdowns. “He’s a huge part of everything we do, for sure,” Cowboys offensive lineman Tyler Smith said about Lamb, as reported by ESPN. “His absence will definitely be felt, but while he’s dealing with his issues, we have to handle our business as well.” –Field Level Media
