Reports indicate that CeeDee Lamb, wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, will not be starting training camp with his teammates. The Cowboys are set to begin camp on Wednesday with the first practice scheduled for Thursday. However, Lamb did not travel with the team from Dallas to Oxnard, Calif., on Tuesday, as reported. Despite being in line to earn $17.99 million this season, Lamb will become an unrestricted free agent thereafter. He has been in negotiations for a contract extension with the Cowboys, but has yet to receive one, leading to his current holdout. In June, Lamb was absent from the team’s mandatory minicamp, resulting in fines of around $100,000. These fines could potentially be waived by the Cowboys, unlike the daily fine of $50,000 that Lamb would face if he were to skip training camp. The 25-year-old wide receiver is coming off his best season yet, recording 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns, all of which are career highs. He led the NFL in catches in 2023, with Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins and Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions closely behind with 119 receptions each. Throughout his four seasons with Dallas, Lamb has accumulated 395 catches for 5,145 yards and 32 touchdowns. Tyler Smith, an offensive lineman for the Cowboys, acknowledged Lamb’s importance to the team, stating, “I mean, he’s a huge part of everything we do, for sure. His presence obviously will be missed, but while he’s handling things he has to handle, we have to handle business as well.” –Field Level Media
