Former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama are throwing their support behind Kamala Harris for president.
In a statement Friday, the Obamas expressed their excitement and endorsement for the vice president, stating, “There is no doubt in our mind that Kamala Harris has exactly what it takes to win this election and deliver for the American people.”
Following President Joe Biden’s exit from the 2024 race, the Democratic Party rallied behind Harris, prompting speculation on when the Obamas would officially endorse her. According to Scripps News, the endorsement was expected “soon,” as Mr. Obama and Harris had been keeping in touch.

The Obamas mentioned catching up with the vice president after her busy schedule this week, vowing to support her in her presidential campaign.
Harris and Mr. Obama have had a 20-year friendship, with Obama serving as a mentor to Harris as she climbed the Democratic ranks.
