Packers give Love 4-year extension

The source, speaking to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity, revealed that Love’s new deal includes a $75 million signing bonus and $155 million in guarantees.

Love’s extension follows his impressive performance in leading the NFL’s youngest team to a 10-9 record and playoff berth last season as a first-year starter, replacing Aaron Rodgers, who was traded to the New York Jets in April 2023.

NFL Network was the first to report Love’s deal, while ESPN disclosed the amount of the signing bonus and guaranteed money.

During the contract negotiations, the 25-year-old Love had not been participating in Packers’ training camp activities, but had been attending workouts and other team events. His previous contract was set to expire at the end of the upcoming season.

The Miami Dolphins have agreed with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on a four-year contract extension valued at a franchise-record $212.4 million, according to a source with knowledge of the deal on Friday.

At an average of $53.1 million per year, Tagovailoa will rank third in the NFL in quarterback pay behind Jacksonville’s Trevor Lawrence and Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow. The deal includes $167 million guaranteed, eighth most among quarterbacks, said the source, speaking on condition of anonymity.

ESPN was the first to report the extension, attributing the terms to the agency that represents Tagovailoa, Athletes First.

The Dolphins have not officially announced the extension, although a video of Tagovailoa was posted on social media by the team on Friday afternoon.

Tagovailoa was previously playing under his initial contract signed when he was selected fifth overall in the 2020 draft. He sought a contract similar to Burrow and Herbert, both of whom signed multi-year contracts exceeding $200 million after their rookie deals.

Cleveland’s star running back was seen running sprints after practice on Friday, indicating that he is ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation. Chubb displayed full speed and agility while performing cutting drills during the workout.

Jackson has only participated in one training camp session since its inception, and he left the Wednesday session early.
