Fundraiser to help woman beat cancer
From 2-8 p.m. Aug. 17, a free community festival and silent auction fundraiser will be held at Reeder’s Alley to help Helena native Erin McGowan beat cancer.
Helena businesses have sponsored the event, and have donated silent auction items.
The event will also feature live music, raffles, food trucks and family friendly entertainment.

Community leaders honored by Bray
Community leaders Daniela Abel and Dennis Taylor were presented the 2024 Meloy Stevenson Award at the annual Bray Garden Party on July 18.
The Meloy Stevenson Award of Distinction was created in 2001 to acknowledge outstanding service to the Archie Bray Foundation and is granted to people whose commitment has helped to sustain the Bray as “a fine place to work.”

Originally from Hamburg, Germany, Abel is an avid supporter of The Bray and has been volunteering for over 15 years. As a ceramic artist for over 25 years, she is passionate about learning new techniques and developing glazes, and has taken countless classes and workshops at The Bray.
Taylor served on The Bray’s board of directors from 2014-2023 and was board chair from 2017-2020. He is a retired city manager, a longtime Montana state government administrator, former deputy director of the Montana Department of Justice and chief of staff for Attorney General Joe Mazurek.
Taylor is a graduate of the University of Kansas, studied public administration at the University of Montana, served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and is a decorated Vietnam combat infantry veteran and former VISTA volunteer.
The Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts (The Bray) is at 2915 Country Club Ave. in Helena, just west of Spring Meadow Lake. Galleries are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 12-4 p.m.

Friends and family members of those struggling with substance use issues have a new resource available.
St. Peter’s Health is launching a new Invitation to Change Support Group. Led by a behavioral health professional, the group will provide participants with strategies to support positive change for themselves and their loved ones.
