Story Time for Diverse Abilities
Join Youth Services librarians when they read a selection of engaging stories geared toward teens through adults with cognitive or other disabilities. This program is held twice a month with the next Story Time happening on July 29 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Families First Classroom on Level Two of the library.
KFGM presents The FreeSessions
The FreeSessions is an improvised music and movement jam session to promote collaboration among creatives in Missoula. The next session is held on July 29 from 5 to 8 p.m. in Cooper Room A/B on Level Four of the library and is curated by Cooper Godfrey. Cooper Godfrey is a student in the Jazz Studies program at the University of Montana. Guitar is his primary instrument on which he plays styles of jazz and improvised/experimental music.
Tiny Tales @ EmPower Place

Tiny Tales is back at Empower Place! Tiny Tales uses sounds, rhythms and movement to help your child learn to read! Participants will sing songs, learn finger-plays and nursery rhymes, and hear stories. This program takes place every Tuesday, with the next program held on July 30 from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the conference room on the 2nd floor of EmPower Place, located at 1720 Wyoming Street in Missoula.
Big Sky Arts & Crafts

Summer Learning Program: All About Break Dancing
On July 30 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Imaginarium on Level Two of the library come learn about one of the newest events at the Olympics, Break Dancing. Learn all about this unique dance style with a local break dancer who will teach us some moves.
4HistoryBuffs: History and Memory with Leif Fredrickson
This month we will discuss how 1916 historians and boosters began erecting statues of John Mullan across the Pacific Northwest. Fredrickson will also discuss the origin of the monuments, their meanings at the time, and the history and memory of them since they were built, taking us through layers of historical record, combining personal memory and official government documents, to uncover the lives of the early French-Canadian settlers of Grass Valley. This presentation is held on July 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Cooper Room A/B on Level Four of the library.
MakerSpace Mending and Sewing
Bring your damaged clothing to the Makerspace and learn how to mend them during these mending and sewing-focused walk-in hours. This drop-in program is held every Wednesday with the next session on July 31 from 2 to 5:30 p.m. in the MakerSpace on Level One of the library.
Game On! @ MPL
Get your game on at MPL! Switch games and controllers will be available for gamers to use every Thursday from 2:30-5:30 on Level Two. Prove you are master of Rainbow Road or smash your opponents in Super Smash Bros.! This gaming time is intended for children/youth 16 and under. The next Game On! session is on Aug. 1 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Imaginarium on Level Two.
MPL’s Cooking for Kids
Kids can learn how to make tasty treats, simple Meals, and fun foodstuffs at your local library! Kid-friendly recipes will be shared with young chefs, who will get the chance to make their own food to enjoy and take home. The next program is held Aug. 1 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Demonstration Kitchen on Level Three of the library.
Tiny Tales in the Park
This summer, the Missoula Public Library and Missoula Parks & Rec are teaming up to bring Tiny Tales to the park! Every Friday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at Westside Park, meet us under the trees on the Sherwood side of the park for songs, rhymes, and movements for kids aged 0-3. The next program is held on Aug. 2. During inclement weather Tiny Tales is held in the Lowell School gym or cafeteria.
Yarns @ MPL
Calling all knitters and crocheters! Bring your lunch and your latest project to the Blackfoot Board Room every Friday to end your week with some crafty fun. The next meeting is held on Aug. 2 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Blackfoot Room on Level Four.
First Friday with LEVL
On Aug. 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. on Level Four join LEVL and the Missoula Public Library for this First Friday event! LEVL is a nine-month program focused on providing caregivers with lived experience, the opportunity to explore new skills, share their stories, learn about advocacy, and build an intentional community. Photographers from this program spent over two months capturing their worlds, crafting their biographies, and writing their artist statements.
