BILLINGS — Scattered showers and thunderstorms developed over the higher terrain of Montana and Wyoming Saturday afternoon and evening. However, the active weather will dissipate before midnight tonight, leaving behind lingering clouds and areas of smoke and haze on Sunday morning.
A small area of low pressure will pass over the northern Rockies on Sunday, bringing another chance of showers, thunderstorms, lightning strikes, and gusty winds. It is important to be cautious and avoid starting any fires. Rainfall amounts will be limited, and smoke will still be present.
We can expect a brief break from the active weather on Monday as a small ridge of high pressure moves overhead, bringing more heat. On Tuesday, another trough of low pressure will bring showers, isolated thunderstorms, and breezy conditions. The end of July and the beginning of August will continue to bring warm temperatures.
