Reports indicate that a tragic mass shooting occurred at a busy park in upstate New York over the weekend, resulting in one fatality and six individuals sustaining injuries.
The Rochester Police Department swiftly responded to the incident at Maplewood Park on Sunday around 6:20 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found multiple individuals with gunshot wounds. The victims were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment, some by ambulance and others by private vehicles, according to police sources.

The deceased victim, believed to be in their 20s, is yet to be publicly identified until their family has been notified by authorities.
Of the wounded, one person remains in critical condition, as stated by RPD Captain Greg Bello during a press briefing.
Bello mentioned that the investigation is in its early stages, and police cannot confirm the presence of a lone shooter at the scene.
“We are currently processing evidence and reviewing available videos,” Bello added, urging the public to share any footage directly with RPD.

Expressing deep concern, Bello condemned the violent act that disrupted a peaceful Sunday afternoon gathering at the park, referring to it as “completely unacceptable in our society.”
Rochester Mayor Malik Evans also expressed his dismay at the tragic event, describing it as a heartbreaking incident that occurred while families were enjoying their time in the park.
