Marvel Studios made a triumphant return to San Diego Comic-Con with a lively panel featuring dancing Deadpool variants, a choir, and surprise guests like Harrison Ford and Robert Downey Jr.
Downey is set to return to Marvel’s films, but this time not as Iron Man. He will be portraying the villain Victor Von Doom, also known as Doctor Doom, in at least one of the upcoming “Avengers” movies. During the panel, Downey appeared in Dr. Doom’s mask and a green cloak, exclaiming, “New mask, same task!”
The Russo brothers, who will direct the film featuring Downey, expressed excitement over the endless possibilities within the Marvel multi-universe.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige kicked off the panel by celebrating the MCU’s box office success, surpassing $30 billion in earnings after the release of “Deadpool & Wolverine.” He also announced the titles of the next two “Avengers” films – “Avengers: Secret Wars” and “Avengers: Doomsday” slated for release in the coming years.
Feige introduced the cast of the upcoming “Captain America” film and delighted fans with clips and details about the characters. The panel also featured surprises from the cast and director of “Thunderbolts” and revealed updates on the highly anticipated “Fantastic Four” movie.
Despite the excitement, there was no mention of Jonathan Majors, who was previously involved in Marvel’s plans but was removed from the studio following legal issues. Majors played the villain Kang the Conqueror in the MCU.
Marvel’s successful panel at Comic-Con showcased the studio’s upcoming projects and reignited anticipation for their upcoming releases.
