Vice President and presumed presidential nominee Kamala Harris energized supporters in Atlanta on Tuesday, bringing the renewed message of the Democratic presidential campaign to the battleground state of Georgia.
Over 10,000 people gathered at the packed Georgia State arena to listen to Harris discuss familiar topics such as immigration, the economy, and civil rights.
She drew on her experience as a prosecutor, stating, “I know Donald Trump’s type. I have encountered individuals like him throughout my entire career.”
Highlighting her prosecution of fraud and sexual abuse cases, crimes for which Trump has been found liable or convicted, she emphasized her track record compared to Trump’s actions.
Harris also emphasized her work prosecuting drug trafficking in a border state and contrasted it with Trump’s alleged interference with a bipartisan border security bill.
“Donald Trump shows no concern for border security, only for his own interests,” Harris stated.
If elected, she pledged to revive the border security bill and see it through to become law.

Focusing on relieving families of the burden of high living costs, Harris acknowledged that despite declining inflation, prices remained steep.
“My presidency will aim to strengthen the middle class,” she declared, promising to combat hidden fees, rising rents, and prescription drug expenses.
Harris committed to enacting new safeguards for voting rights and reproductive rights while also addressing the ongoing issue of gun violence.
Encouraging Trump to agree to a pre-election debate, Harris challenged him to face her directly, saying, “If you have something to say, say it to my face.”
Georgia in play
Harris’s campaign chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon, outlined a strategy targeting victory in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, yet she also recognized Georgia as a prime opportunity to engage with new voters, particularly those who are Black, Latino, and under 30.
In the 2020 election, Joe Biden narrowly won Georgia by less than half a percentage point. Trump and 18 associates have faced indictments from a Fulton County grand jury for their attempt to overturn the election results.
Trump announced plans to hold a rally in the same arena on Saturday.
