CHATEAUROUX, France β Wednesday afternoon Ivan Roe concluded his three-event Olympic program with the men’s 50-meter 3 Position Rifle qualification round.
The Manhattan competitor finished 20th overall out of 44 with a 587-32x. China’s Yukun Liu was the top qualifier with 594-38x to lead the top eight which all advanced to Thursday’s final.
The event requires twenty shots each at three different positions – kneeling, prone and standing. Roe, a current sergeant with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, was sixth after the kneeling portion by shooting 99 on both 10-shot series and earning 198-12x. After the next 20 shots at prone, he was 11th at 395-24x with scores of 99 and 98 on those series. But the last 20 standing shots slid him down to 20th after he shot 95 on the first 10 and 97 on the second.
