College football season is less than a month away.
And this season will be a historic one for the sport, as not only has the landscape changed with major conference expansion, but so has the College Football Playoff.
Eighteen college football teams are now in the Big Ten, 17 are in the ACC and 16 each make up the Big 12 and SEC. Those leagues, along with the Mountain West, American Athletic Conference, Sun Belt, Mid-American Conference and Conference USA will all play for playoff spots allotted to the five highest-ranked conference champions. After that, the next seven highest-ranked teams in the FBS will earn a spot in the expanded 12-team playoff bracket.
The massive shift has increased the odds for many more teams to not only win their conference championship, but also make the CFP and vie for a national title.

And now that media days are over, and teams take the field for preseason practices and camps, FrontPageBets takes a look at the odds-on favorites to win each of the top four college football conferences, as well as the top 12 teams favored to make the College Football Playoff.
2024 ACC football odds: FSU favored to win conference, Clemson second
With the addition of Cal, SMU and Standford to the Atlantic Coast Conference, Florida State still is the class of the league.
The Seminoles (+290) are the consensus favorite across the major sportsbooks to win the ACC, followed by Clemson (+360), Miami (+450), N.C. State (+650) and Louisville (+800).
FSU was left out of the four-team College Football Playoff last season – despite finishing 13-0 and winning the ACC – because of the season-ending injury to quarterback Jordan Travis in mid-November.
The Seminoles were clearly a different team without Travis, who was the ACC Player of the Year and finished fifth in Heisman voting. And it showed, with FSU getting blown out by Georgia, 63-3, in the Orange Bowl.
This year, Florida State will replace Travis with college football journeyman DJ Uiagalelei, who is a grad transfer from Oregon State and prior to that was at Clemson. Uiagalelei has played in 48 career college football games, starting 40 of them.

2024 Big Ten football odds: Ohio State, Oregon favorites to win conference
Oregon is already making a name for itself as the newest Big Ten member, coming in just behind Ohio State on the preseason odds boards to win the conference this season.
Of course, reigning Big Ten and national champion Michigan will have something to say about that when the season starts in a few weeks.
Currently it’s the Buckeyes (+150) just in front of the Ducks (+200), followed by Penn State (+525) and Michigan (700). Fellow Big Ten newcomer USC (+2200) is a distant fifth in preseason odds.
Oregon is also a trendy pick to not only make the CFP, but win it all, sitting at +800, which is fourth-best in preseason odds.
The Ducks bring in former Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel to fill in for Bo Nix under center.

2024 Big 12 championship odds for college football: Utah, Kansas State top two favorites
Gone from the Big 12 are cornerstones and perennial favorites Texas and Oklahoma, but filling in for the dearly departed (at least on the odds boards) is Pac-12 transfer Utah.
The Utes are the favorite to win the Big 12 in their first year in the league, sitting at +300 in preseason odds, just in front of Kansas State (+350).
Oklahoma State (+700), Kansas (+800) and newcomer UCF (+900) round out the top five.
Utah will return star quarterback Cameron Rising, who missed most of last year with an injury. But just in case Rising isn’t 100%, the Utes also brough in transfer Sam Huard from Cal Poly.
A favorable Kansas State schedule, where the Wildcats won’t face Utah during the regular season, could see K-State making a run … especially with one of the top running back corps in college football.

2024 SEC conference championship odds: Georgia, Texas frontrunners
It truly is a new day in the SEC.
Not only did the conference add Texas and Oklahoma, this will be the first time in 17 years that Nick Saban won’t be on the sideline at Alabama. It’s also the first time in about as long where the Crimson Tide isn’t being talked to win it all.
Georgia is the preseason odds-on favorite heading into the fall, sitting at +190. Texas is just behind the Bulldogs at +300, followed by Ole Miss (+650), Alabama (+750) and LSU (+900).
Georgia, of course has been stealing some of Alabama’s shine for the last few years, winning two of the last three national championships.
Once again, Kirby Smart’s crew in Athens has experience on both sides of the ball, including returning starting quarterback Carson Beck.
The Dawgs also picked up running back Trevor Etienne from Florida in the offseason transfer portal.
Texas comes into its first season in the SEC with high hopes and a lot of talent in its own right, especially under center.
The Longhorns, who made the CFP last year, return starter Quinn Ewers, as well as Arch Manning, perhaps the most famous, and most talked about, backups in the country.
