Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign has announced the establishment of Republicans for Harris, a group aimed at persuading Republicans who are dissatisfied with former President Donald Trump. The coalition includes several Trump White House aides and former members of Congress.
The Harris campaign stated that the group will launch events in key states like Arizona, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, ahead of the upcoming presidential election. Republican surrogates will also join events later in the week as Harris begins her tour of battleground states with her soon-to-be-announced running mate.
Some of the GOP surrogates supporting Harris in her campaign are former Trump White House officials Stephanie Grisham and Olivia Troye, former Georgia Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan, and former Rep. Adam Kinzinger. Mesa, Arizona Mayor John Giles, a current elected official, is also on the list after publicly expressing his endorsement for Harris in an op-ed.
Stephanie Grisham, in a statement, said, “I might not agree with Vice President Kamala Harris on everything, but I know that she will fight for our freedom, protect our democracy, and represent America with honor and dignity on the world stage.” Grisham, who served as Trump’s chief spokesperson, criticized his actions on January 6th and the lies he told during his administration.
Polling data indicates most Republicans have already decided
A recent poll by Harvard University Center for American Political Studies revealed that 92% of Republicans plan to vote for Trump, while only 5% intend to vote for Harris. The poll also found that 3% of Republicans are undecided about their choice for the upcoming election.
When asked to choose between Trump and Harris, 94% of Republicans favored Trump, while 6% chose Harris. Independents showed more indecision, with Trump leading 45-39, while 16% of unaffiliated voters remain uncertain about their selection.
Although most voters for both candidates claim to have made up their minds, a quarter of those supporting Trump or Harris say they could still change their decision.
