Kamala Harris visited battleground state Arizona on Friday, focusing on immigration issues, while Donald Trump held a rally to support a Senate candidate.
With the presidential election just three months away, Trump has had a light rally schedule, in contrast to the busy campaign of his younger opponent and his own vigorous campaigning in 2016.
After stops in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, Harris and her running mate Tim Walz spoke to a packed stadium in Arizona, a state Biden narrowly won in 2020.
During her speech, Harris criticized Trump’s handling of illegal border crossings and immigration issues.
She highlighted a failed immigration proposal that Trump opposed earlier this year and pledged to sign it if elected president.
Harris also addressed abortion issues, noting the impact of the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision on abortion rights in Arizona and other states.
While Harris rallied in Phoenix, Trump held a rally in Montana, where he is expected to win.
Despite questions about his schedule, Trump defended his absence from battleground states and criticized Harris’s campaign strategy.
The race has shifted in recent weeks, with Arizona and Nevada now considered toss-up states by election forecasters.
After Arizona, Harris will continue her campaign in neighboring Nevada.
