Susan Wojcicki, the former YouTube chief executive officer and longtime Google executive, has passed away, her husband announced. She was 56.
“My beloved wife of 26 years and mother to our five children has left us today after a 2-year battle with non-small cell lung cancer,” Dennis Troper shared in a social media post late Friday.
“Susan was not only my best friend and life partner, but also a brilliant mind, a loving mother, and a dear friend to many,” Troper added.
No further details about her passing have been provided at this time.

Wojcicki, who played a significant role in Google’s founding, stepped down as YouTube’s CEO in 2023 after leading the video-sharing service for nine years, making a profound impact on entertainment, culture, and politics.
Back in 1998, shortly after Google’s co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin established their search engine as a business, Wojcicki rented out her Menlo Park, California garage to them for $1,700 a month.
In February, Wojcicki and Troper’s 19-year-old son, Marco Troper, tragically passed away at the UC Berkeley campus where he was studying as a freshman.
