Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is making a comeback to X for a live interview with platform owner Elon Musk on Monday, in what is considered a significant return since his ban in 2021.
Musk has confirmed that their conversation, scheduled for 8 p.m. ET, will be unscripted with no constraints on the topics discussed.
In 2022, Musk reinstated Trump’s account on X, nearly two years after Trump was banned following the events of the Jan. 6 insurrection.
During that time, Trump rarely used the platform, only making appearances to post an image of his mugshot and a fund-raising link after being indicted for his involvement in the 2020 election results in Georgia. He also shared a campaign video on Monday.

Trump’s upcoming interview with Musk mirrors a previously high-traffic event on the platform when Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced his presidential bid, which faced technical challenges due to high demand from listeners.
Musk has assured that X has tested its infrastructure in preparation for Monday’s interview.
Musk publicly endorsed Trump shortly after surviving an assassination attempt at a campaign event. Reports of Musk pledging to donate $45 million a month to a pro-Trump super PAC were refuted by Musk, who clarified that he is contributing at a lower level to a super PAC that values meritocracy and individual freedom.
