East Helena Public Schools swore in its first student representative on Aug. 12 after the idea of such representation was brought to the superintendent by a former high schooler.
Brooke Harris, a senior at East Helena High School, was excited for her new role on the board of trustees in the school district, while keeping her composure knowing she was the first.
“It feels good to be somebody that can make a change in the community and in the high school,” Harris said.
