The first round of the FedExCup Playoffs starts Thursday with the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tenn.
The top 70 golfers on the PGA Tourâs point list have qualified for the postseason and will tee it up this week for a shot to advance in the three-tournament Cup Playoffs that culminates in the Tour Championship at East Lake outside of Atlanta in three weeks.
The favorites to win this week should be no surprise: Theyâre only the top two golfers on the planet.

FedEx St. Jude Championship odds: Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and more for TPC Southwind
Scottie Scheffler, the Worldâs No. 1 player, is coming off an Olympic gold medal two weeks ago in Paris, and is at the top of the odds boards (+350). Oh, and Scheffler has also won six PGA Tour events this season, including his second Masters title.

Xander Schauffeleâs 2024 hasnât been too shabby either. He debunked the âbest golfer to never win a majorâ moniker with authority, capturing two of the four majors â the PGA Championship and the British Open. Schauffele sits at +800 to win in Memphis this week.
But both Scheffler and Schauffele will have to wade through the best golfers in the world over four days in this first postseason event, with the top 50 in points after Sundayâs final round advancing to next weekâs BMW Championship.
So who will win the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis? FrontPageBets takes a look at the golfers to watch in the first playoff event of the 2024 season when they tee it up Thursday at the par-70, 7,243-yard TPC Southwind course.
Playoff time is Rory time.
It might seem like the No. 3-ranked player in the world is having a down year, but donât let that U.S. Open finish fool you.
Not many players can say three wins, two runner-ups (including the U.S. Open), eight top-5s and fifth-place in the Olympics is considered an âoffâ year.
Other than missing the cut at the British Open, in McIlroyâs last eight starts, his worst finish was T12, and that was the PGA Championship.
And the Northern Irishman does have the postseason hardware that matters.
McIlroy is a three-time FedExCup champion (2016, 2019, 2022) and is perhaps the best pressure player in the world.
McIlroy finished T3 in this event last year, closing with a 65 on Sunday.
In seven PGA Tour events at TPC Southwind since 2010, McIlroy has only missed one cut, while racking up four top-12 finishes.
Theegala is seventh in FedExCup points and 13th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
He has nine top-15 finishes in 21 starts this season, including two runner-ups â The Sentry and RBC Heritage. Heâs finished T6 or better in two of his last three PGA Tour events, while also finishing T12 at the PGA Championship.
Theegala has finished T13 in both of his previous St. Jude Championship starts (2022, 2023), and he opened that 2022 event at TPC Southwind with a 63.
Theegala also enters the playoffs in the exact same position Viktor Hovland did last year, when Hovland went off to win the final two postseason events enroute to the 2023 FedEx Cup title.
Im is ninth in FedExCup points and is ranked 20th in the world.
Im has six top-10 finishes in his last 10 starts, including a T7 at the British Open.
And he plays well at TPC Southwind, finishing T6 at the St. Jude Championship last year and 12th in 2022.
