Authorities reported discovering four individuals who were shot on the Virginia State University campus shortly after midnight on Wednesday.
Chesterfield County Police revealed in a statement that the four victims were located on Boisseau Street around 12:30 a.m. following a report of gunshots.
All the victims are expected to recover from their non-life-threatening injuries.
“Based on current findings, none of the victims are enrolled for the fall 2024 semester. It should be noted that no officers fired their weapons during the incident,” stated the police.
Investigators have identified multiple suspects, and charges are pending.
Following the shooting, the campus was temporarily closed to the public but reopened five hours later.
Authorities from Scripps News Richmond witnessed officers cordoning off the parking lot adjacent to Daniel Gymnasium with crime scene tape.
Detectives were observed gathering evidence in paper bags almost six hours after the shooting.
No details regarding the motives behind the shooting or the circumstances surrounding the crime were disclosed.
