Eugene Levy and Dan Levy are set to make history at the upcoming Emmy Awards as the first-ever father and son co-hosts.
“We are excited to have two generations of comedy brilliance grace the Emmy’s stage as hosts,” said Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego in a statement released on Friday.
The Levys had a successful year at the 2020 Emmys, winning multiple awards for their hit show “Schitt’s Creek.” Eugene Levy took home the award for outstanding comedy actor, while Dan Levy won for best supporting comedy actor. Additionally, Dan Levy won awards for writing and directing, and both received the Outstanding Comedy Series trophy as executive producers.

“As two Canadians who accepted our Emmys from a quarantine tent, the opportunity to host this year in a real theater was too enticing to pass up,” the Levys stated. “We are thrilled to be able to celebrate this exceptional season of television.”
The Levys will be the first-ever father-son duo to host the Emmys, following in the footsteps of “Saturday Night Live” stars Colin Jost and Michael Che who co-hosted in 2018.
The 76th Emmys will be broadcast live in Los Angeles on Sept. 15 on ABC and will be available for streaming on Hulu the following day.
But Eugene Levy’s involvement doesn’t stop at hosting; he is also nominated for his Apple TV+ series “The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy,” which explores the unlikely pairing of a dry and cautious host with some of the world’s most beautiful destinations.
