Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle D’Ante Smith suffered a patella tendon injury on Thursday, potentially ending his season, as reported by ESPN on Friday. Smith was taken off on a cart after sustaining the injury during the team’s joint practice with the Chicago Bears. Shortly before Smith’s injury, Bengals running back Chris Evans also tore his patella tendon, ruling him out for the season. Smith, 26, was drafted in the fourth round of the 2021 draft from East Carolina and has played in three regular season games for the Bengals, with one start. Although he was active for eight games last season, he did not see any playing time. The last time Smith appeared for the Bengals was in the 2023 AFC Championship Game. The Bengals’ offensive line depth was already under strain with rookie first-rounder Amarius Mims suffering a pectoral muscle strain that will keep him out for several weeks. Cincinnati is set to face the Bears in Chicago for their preseason game on Saturday. –Field Level Media
