A White Florida woman has been found guilty in the fatal shooting of her Black neighbor.
In June 2023, Susan Lorincz was arrested and charged with manslaughter and assault in the death of Ajike Owens. On Aug. 16, a jury convicted her of manslaughter.
According to the arrest affidavit, Lorincz was seen arguing with children playing near her home, and allegedly threw a roller skate at one of Owens’ children. This led to a confrontation where Owens approached Lorincz’s home with her son. Lorincz fired a shot through the door, resulting in Owens’ death.
Lorincz called 911 when Owens approached her door, and later reported that the victim tried to break in while yelling, prompting her to shoot through the door.
Authorities revealed a long-standing feud between Lorincz and the victim’s family that spanned over two years.
Lorincz is facing a possible 30-year prison sentence, with sentencing scheduled for November.
