Gypsy Rose Blanchard has announced a significant decision regarding the paternity of her unborn child.
After pressure from her estranged husband Ryan Anderson to undergo a DNA test to determine if he is the father, Blanchard and Anderson have decided to wait until after the baby is born to perform the test, as reported by TMZ. The main reason for this decision is to save money, as performing a DNA test on a child after birth is less expensive.
According to the American Pregnancy Association, a prenatal paternity test can cost between $400 and $2,000, while a postnatal test costs between $150 and $200.
Blanchard, who recently confirmed her pregnancy in a YouTube video, has stated that her fiancé Ken Urker is the father. However, due to Louisiana state law requiring a paternity test for legally married couples, Blanchard and Anderson must undergo the test.
Although Blanchard and Anderson are in the process of divorcing, Louisiana law dictates that Anderson could be listed as the father on the birth certificate if the baby is born before their divorce is finalized.
Anderson has expressed on TikTok his intention to take a DNA test to confirm paternity, stating, “I have to take a DNA test for court. The DNA test will provide the truth, and while I have my doubts, anything is possible.”
In response to questions about the timeline of her pregnancy, Blanchard clarified in a YouTube comment that Ken is the father based on the dates of her relationship with him compared to her ex-husband.
Last week, Blanchard revealed the gender of her baby on Instagram, announcing, “It’s a girl! Ken and I are thrilled to be starting our family, and we are grateful for all the love and support from our friends and family.”
