BILLINGS — Two waves of energy will impact Montana and Wyoming in the short term. The first wave brought showers and thunderstorms to our area on Tuesday afternoon and will continue through the evening. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for most of Montana until 10 p.m. Seek shelter if storms are nearby.
Wednesday will start off quietly, but the next wave of energy will bring more rain showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, with the possibility of strong to severe thunderstorms. Thursday will be calm and seasonable as we are between disturbances in the northern Rockies.
A deeper trough of low pressure will move from the eastern Pacific towards our region on Friday, bringing hotter temperatures and developing breezes. Clouds will increase late Saturday and Sunday, with gusty winds expected. Temperatures will cool down significantly from the upper 80s and lower 90s to the 70s and lower 80s by Sunday.
