Hike Through History: Greenway Trail: Fairmont Road to German Gulch with Dori Skrukrud. Discover the Greenway Trail and the restoration along this portion of the trail from Fairmont Road through Durant Canyon. Participants meet at 9 a.m. at Fairmont Road. Each walk is free, but a $5 donation is appreciated with proceeds going to the Friends of the Archives and the Local Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Fund. Snacks and water are available.
The Jefferson County Fair and Rodeo, “A Fair of the Heart,” continues Thursday through Sunday at the Jefferson County Recreation Park located one-half mile south of Boulder. FRIDAY, AUG. 23
AWARE will be hosting an open house and resource fair from noon to 3 p.m. at the AWARE Center for Excellence, 200 Polk St., Anaconda. The free event is to mark a decade at the center. Children and families from Anaconda and surrounding areas are invited to attend the event, which includes a free barbecue and root beer floats, family resources and a free raffle. The Butte Vigilante PRCA Pro Rodeo will be Friday-Sunday at the Don Harrington Arena, 6354 Albany Ave. The three-day event will include top PRCA and WPRA competitors in bronc riding, barrel racing, bull riding and much more. Also on hand will be several food vendors. General admission tickets are $25 and can be purchased on the Butte Vigilante website, or at the gate. These tickets also include access to the Friday concert with Levi Blom and the Saturday concert with Kalyn Beasley & the Honky Tonk Arcade.
Willson & McKee will perform in concert at 7 p.m. at the Elling House Arts & Humanities Center at 404 E. Idaho St., Virginia City. The duo will perform traditional Irish and Scottish music while playing such instruments as the dulcimer, Celtic harp, accordion, guitar, Irish bouzouki and bodhran. SATURDAY, AUG. 24
The third annual Big Butte Brewfest will be from noon to 6 p.m. at the historic World Museum of Mining, 155 Museum Way. Several Montana and regional breweries will be there, along with food vendors and live music. In addition, raffles will be held throughout the day with proceeds going towards the expansion of the museum’s Mining Heritage Center. Tickets are $40 the day of the event and includes six drink tickets. Underground mine tours will be offered for an additional fee.
The Elling House Arts & Humanities Center, along with St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, will present a Baroque Music Montana Concert titled “Lands of the Free: Languages of Improvisation” at 7 p.m. at 102 E. Idaho St., Virginia City. The hour-long concert features 17th century European music with artists Carrie Krause, baroque violin; Manami Mizumoto, baroque violin; Phoebe Carrai, baroque cello; and John Lenti, theorbo. The public is invited to attend. Admission is by donation.
Jesse Daniel with Tylor & The Train Robbers, 7 p.m. doors, 8 p.m. show, Covellite Theatre, 215 W. The Covellite Theatre’s “Open Mic Night” starts at 7 p.m. at 215 W. Broadway St. Guest host will be Peyton Waters. Musicians, poets, comedians, dancers and mimes are encouraged to participate. There will also be some slots available at the door, so come on time to sign up.

The Lil Smokies with Trout Basket, 6 p.m. doors, 7 p.m. show. Since forming on the streets of Missoula, where the group got its start busking back in 2009, the band has performed everywhere from Red Rocks to The Rialto and captivated festival audiences at Telluride, High Sierra, LOCKN’, Freshgrass, FloydFest and countless more.
