Sean “Diddy” Combs shared a video apology on his Instagram on Sunday, acknowledging his unacceptable behavior shown in recently released footage where he appeared to assault his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in 2016.
The surveillance footage, dated March 5, 2016, aligns with Ventura’s previous claims of abuse and violence by Diddy, as stated in a lawsuit that has since been settled.
“Reflecting on the darkest times in your life is challenging, but necessary. I was at my lowest, and admit that my actions in that video are inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my behavior then and now,” expressed Combs in his apology video.
Diddy had previously denied Ventura’s allegations, dismissing them as baseless and aimed at damaging his reputation for financial gain.
“I deeply apologize. Each day I am dedicated to bettering myself as a man. I do not seek forgiveness, just to express my sincere regret,” he continued in his apology.
Ventura chose not to comment following the footage release, but her attorney issued a statement to Scripps News.
“The distressing video further validates the alarming and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs,” Ventura’s attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, remarked. “Ms. Ventura’s bravery in shedding light on this is commendable.”
Combs and Ventura were in a relationship from 2007 to 2018. Her lawsuit, filed in November, claimed that Combs began abusing her when she was 19 and details the alleged abusive acts from physical assaults to rape.

Ventura also claimed she was a victim of sex trafficking due to coerced sexual encounters across the country. Federal authorities conducted raids on two of Combs’ homes in March as part of a sex trafficking inquiry.
The lawsuit was settled shortly after being filed.
Combs faces allegations in other lawsuits, one accusing him of running a criminal enterprise involving illicit activities. He has denied all such allegations, condemning them as “sickening.”
