We’re two majors up and two majors down after the 2024 PGA Championship this past weekend in Valhalla. A tight race at the end finished with Xander Schauffele (-21) claiming his first major championship.
We now turn out attention to the 2024 U.S. Open, which takes place at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina from June 13-16.
Let’s take a look at our favorite long shot picks to win the third major of the season.
U.S. Open long shots picks: Best bets for third major of 2024
For our long shot picks, we’ll be staying away from the top few guys on the odds board, including Scottie Scheffler (+450 or better), Rory McIlroy (+950) and Schauffele (+1400 or better), and focusing on some higher odds.
2024 U.S. Open long shot pick: Bryson DeChambeau (+2000 or better)
The 2020 U.S. Open is DeChambeau’s lone major win. Every course is different, but DeChambeau is also coming into this next major with his best performance at one since that 2020 outing.
DeChambeau finished second at the 2024 PGA Championship, just one stroke behind Schauffele. He looked great on the final day and had a real shot at winning it all in a playoff with Schauffele.
Come June 13, we expect him to be back in the mix to win.
U.S. Open 2024 long shot odds: Brooks Koepka (+2400 or better)
Koepka returned to form in 2023 after a few mediocre years to win the PGA Championship and finish as one of the runner-ups at The Masters.
He had a brutal outing at the 2024 Masters and was only in the middle of the pack at the PGA Championship last weekend. But he’s still one of the best golfers in the world and just won a LIV Golf League outing in Singapore on May 5.
Long shot picks for 2024 U.S. Open: Wyndham Clark (+2900 or better)
The reigning U.S. Open champion returns to defend his title from a year ago. Clark won the 2023 U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club with a -10, edging out Rory McIlroy by one stroke.
Clark got his third PGA Tour win at Pebble Beach back in February and is currently the No. 4 ranked golfer in the world.
Getting these odds for a guy of his caliber feels like a steal here.
