There is a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 9 pm for southcentral and eastern Montana, mainly east of our viewing area. Showers and thunderstorms are currently occurring from near Bozeman to the Glasgow area this evening.
Temperatures range from the upper 40s, 50s, and 60s in central and western Montana to the 70s and 80s in the far east. Temperatures are significantly cooler than yesterday, especially west of the front where they are up to 32 degrees lower. Wind advisories are in place until 9 pm for Flathead Lake and until 9 pm Thursday for Fort Peck Lake with gusts up to 35 mph expected.
A strong cold front is moving into eastern Montana, bringing much cooler air into the state. Some showers and thunderstorms are likely from southwest to northeast Montana, with a few showers expected in northwest Montana as well. A frost advisory has been issued for the Kootenai Cabinet area west of Kalispell and the Lower Clark Fork area northwest of Missoula for Thursday and Friday mornings.
Tomorrow will be dry and cooler, with temperatures in the 50s and 60s. However, temperatures are expected to warm back up to the 70s and 80s by the weekend. Models are suggesting a possible heat wave later next week, so stay updated for more information.
