BILLINGS, Mont.Agriculture is the backbone of Montana’s economy, which is why it’s important to provide good health care for our farmers and ranchers.
Ag Worker Health and Services, a primary and preventative healthcare clinic, has been taking care of Montana’s ag workers, even providing their families, for the last 50 years.
With locations all across the Treasure State, the healthcare clinic emphasizes their ability to offer regular physical health, dental, and behavioral health visits to their patients regardless of their ability to pay.
Colleen Jacobson, whose family works in agriculture, has been seeking services at the clinic for the last 7 years. She said that her regular visits help her manage a job in an undeniably tough industry.
“Farmers and ranchers are tough people, you know, men or women they’re just tough and they don’t often want to go in and be seen. My initial visit blew me away because it was an hour and a half. Never got that anywhere else so when we started, the staff here just made it easy for us to get on board and get going. It’s very important that we breakdown those barriers and say we need help here,” emphasized Jacobson.
Claudia Stephens, a strategic planning specialist, who has been working at the clinic for more than 40 years, said that their team of healthcare professionals focus on encouraging patients to maintain their overall health.
“We’re encouraging people to look at their health not just on the basis of when I’m sick I’m going to come in but rather I’m having these questions, or these issues and I would like to understand better what’s going on. Here, or for example talking about behavioral health mental health we have people that can provide day-to-day counseling sometimes medication is necessary and helpful but it’s always helpful to be able to talk with somebody,” added Stephens.
Ag Worker Health & Services have their clinics at Billings, Dillon, Fairview, Lolo and even in Powell, WY. They are open from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.
