CUSTER — Cole Noble didn’t showcase his full potential with Centerville’s football team until late last season, but coach Brian Davison always believed he had a valuable player in Noble.
Davison, having been a star quarterback for Highwood himself, knew the caliber of players the school could produce. Noble’s breakout performance in the late season helped Centerville win its first 6-Man state championship, validating Davison’s belief in him.
Noble’s achievement led to an all-state nomination and a spot in the Montana 6-Man All-Star Football Game. Despite not making the all-conference team earlier, Noble’s playoff performance stood out.

Centerville’s Cole Noble stands for a photo following a practice Thursday in Custer for the Montana 6-Man All-Star Football Game, scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. Friday in Custer. Noble, who transferred to Centerville from Highwood prior to his senior year, won a state title with the Miners this past season.
“In the first half of the year, he was figuring things out. But by the playoffs, he had a great run,” Davison said. “It was satisfying to see him get the all-state nomination after struggling initially.”
