Drew Brees, a retired quarterback and Super Bowl champion, expressed his desire for a second chance to be a part of NFL game broadcasts. Following his retirement after the 2020 season, Brees joined NBC as an analyst, working on Notre Dame football and “Sunday Night Football” studio show. However, he only called two NFL games during his time at the network, as NBC announced he wouldn’t be returning for the 2022 season due to family reasons. In a post on social media, Brees stated his willingness to return to broadcasting NFL games on “SNF”, “MNF”, or “Thursday Night Football”. He mentioned his passion for the game and his desire to be the best at broadcasting NFL games. With new broadcasting opportunities emerging, Brees may have a chance to be back in the booth. However, the prime time positions he desires are already filled by established commentators. Despite this, Brees remains optimistic about future opportunities, including his potential induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2026.
