NEW YORK (AP) — Media magnate Rupert Murdoch, 93, has tied the knot for the fifth time, as confirmed by his corporation, News Corp, on Sunday.
On Saturday, Murdoch and Elena Zhukova, a 67-year-old Russian-born retired molecular biologist, exchanged vows in a ceremony at his vineyard estate in Bel Air, California. News Corp released photographs of the newlywed couple. The engagement of the couple was announced back in March.
Murdoch’s most recent marriage was to model and actor Jerry Hall, which took place in 2016 and ended in divorce in 2022.
Zhukova was previously married to Alexander Zhukov, a billionaire energy investor and Russian politician. Their daughter, Dasha, was once married to Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, who used to own the Premier League soccer club Chelsea.
Last year, Murdoch stepped down from his role as the head of both Fox News’ parent company and his News Corp media holdings. His son, Lachlan, took over his position in a media empire that has a significant influence in various continents and has played a role in shaping modern American politics.
In 1952, Murdoch inherited a newspaper in Australia from his father. Through the years, he developed a news and entertainment empire that gained prominence in the United States and Britain, including ownership of notable newspapers like The Times of London and The Wall Street Journal.
Established in 1996, Fox News Channel, the 24-hour network, has had a profound impact on television, becoming a popular news source for many conservative U.S. audiences and politicians.
