A Christian is drafted into war but had already decided fighting was against their beliefs, the government is fighting for reasons they don’t agree or maybe they are against fighting in general.
They then could ask the question, is war religiously sound?
War is religiously sound. However, it can be hard to know why. The point will be made through the story of Alvin York, a sergeant in World War I.
Alvin York lived in Tennessee and was known for getting drunk and gambling away most of his earnings. Although his mom and brothers were hard Christians, Alvin never had a love for God. One night Alvin got into a fight in the bar and his best friend was killed.
Through a series of events, Alvin went to his mountain for seven days, to think and pray. He then decided his commander was right and that sometimes we need to fight to protect what God has given us.

War can cause horrible things and sometimes it looks best to stay out of it. But that means that either A. We are letting someone down or B. We are letting ourselves down.
Men of great courage died so that we could raise families and live normal lives. This is what makes war not only moral but necessary. It isn’t what we want to do but until the kingdom comes, evil and war will remain.
