The Billings Public Library kicks off its annual Summer Reading Program on June 4, under the theme, “Adventure Begins at Your Library.” The program invites readers of all ages to embark on a summer filled with events, activities and the chance to win prizes by logging their reading.
Family-friendly programs include story times, arts and crafts workshops, and hands-on activities. Programming also includes special events, such as the Big Machine Petting Zoo, Bike Rodeo, and a wide variety of programs presented by community partners, including Zoo Montana, Mustangs Baseball, Adventure Scuba, and more. Teens will find a welcoming and inspiring space at the library to connect with peers and participate in workshops and special events that spark creativity and broaden their horizons. The Summer Reading Program also offers events tailored to adults, including book groups, artist presentations, skateboard clinics, MET Transit travel training, and other unique events that stimulate creativity, thought and discussion. The full schedule of programs for adults is available here.
Bike Library & Bookmobile
The Bike Library makes weekly stops at various outdoor locations in Billings and community events, where library staff host programs, distribute free books, and share information about library services. Weekly events include “Tour de Downtown” every Tuesday at 10 a.m., to explore local businesses and “CRAFT Club” for teens every Tuesday at 2 p.m., at Pioneer Park. Additional events include “Moms in Motion!” every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., at North Park, “Community Connections” every Thursday at 11 a.m., and “Stethoscopes & Stories” every Friday at 2 p.m., at the Children’s Clinic Library Express Locker (3401 Ave E).
