In Wilmington, Del., opening statements are scheduled to start in the federal gun case against President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter. A jury, along with four alternates, was selected on Monday in Delaware with First Lady Jill Biden and Hunter Biden’s sister Ashley in attendance. Hunter Biden faces three felony charges from a 2018 firearm purchase during his reported crack addiction struggle.
California, Nevada, and Arizona are bracing for a heatwave this week with triple-digit temperatures expected. Phoenix, in particular, faced a record of 31 consecutive days with temperatures over 110 degrees Fahrenheit last summer.
In Gaza, Israeli airstrikes overnight led to the death of at least 11 people, including a family in the Bureij refugee camp and eight police officers in Deir al-Balah. Additionally, the Israeli military reported killing two Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. President Joe Biden’s cease-fire proposal has put Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a challenging position.
