The nominees are nearly set in one of the most momentous political contests in the nation.
Tuesday night’s primary election results are expected to confirm what most people expected: The battle for Montana’s coveted Senate seat will be between Republican Tim Sheehy, a former Navy SEAL and Belgrade business owner, and Democrat Jon Tester, the Big Sandy farmer who has served in the U.S. Senate since 2007.
The Associated Press declared Tester the winner after polls closed Tuesday evening. Sheehy was leading in his primary with 74% of the vote to 18% for Brad Johnson and 9% for Charles Walking Child with 11,023 votes in.

Sheehy at his watch party in Gallatin Gateway said the main thing he would bring to Washington D.C. is “common sense.”
