BOZEMAN — Track and field athletes Nathan Neil of Bozeman and Logan Todorovich of Helena are the 406 MT Sports Athletes of the Month for May after record-setting performances at the Class AA Track and Field Championships.
Neil, a senior who will run next year for the University of Washington, capped his high school career by shattering state records in the 3,200 and 1,600 meters less than a month after running the second-fastest high school mile in the nation — and fastest ever for a Montanan.

Neil, the state’s Gatorade track and field athlete of the year in 2023, also won the 1,600 and 800 at the Eastern AA divisional met. He then put a bow on his month by finishing third in the Hoka Festival of Miles High School Championship in St. Louis with the fastest mile of the night — a personal-best 4 minutes, 00.76 seconds.
Neil is the first in the eight years of 406 MT Sports’ existence to win Athlete of the Month twice in the same school year.
Todorovich, a Baylor commit who recently won the Pat Donovan Award as Helena’s top multi-sport athlete, scored 48.5 of the Bengals’ 129 team points and won five gold medals on the way to her team’s three-peat state title.
She set the all-class record in the 100-meter dash, won the 100 hurdles, long jump and high jump, and ran the first leg of Helena’s first-place 4×100 team. Todorovich leaves Helena as a nine-time state champion in four events, eight as an individual.
In her four years with the Bengals, Todorovich has scored 132 points at state meets, her total this year breaking the school mark of 39.5 she set in 2022 and also topping sister Madi’s runner-up mark of 38.5 a year ago.
