BOZEMAN — Cameron Wood’s journey began at the Gallatin Valley BMX track in Bozeman. His skills on the track have led him to compete worldwide, with hopes of participating in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
“The foundation of everything I’ve learned, even how to ride a bike—it all started right behind me here,” said Cameron Wood.
Wood first started riding a bike at the age of 3, causing mischief in people’s yards before his mom steered him towards the BMX track.
Since then, Cameron has embraced the sport wholeheartedly and has shown remarkable progress over the years.
After graduating from Bozeman High School, Wood moved to Phoenix, Arizona to pursue BMX opportunities in a more competitive environment.
Despite facing injuries and setbacks, Wood has become a two-time World Cup Champion with a total of seven podium finishes.
Now aiming for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Wood is currently the leading Olympic Points scorer in the USA Men category.
While awaiting the official announcement of the Olympic BMX racing team, Wood remains grateful for his journey and the supportive community in Bozeman.
“It’s crazy,” said Wood. “I’m blessed and super thankful.”
Returning to his roots in Bozeman, Wood hopes to inspire others to pursue their dreams with discipline, motivation, and perseverance.
