Hunter Biden is getting ready for another day in court on Friday in Wilmington, Delaware, as his federal gun trial continues.
The prosecution is attempting to prove that the president’s son lied about using illegal drugs on a federal form in order to buy a gun in 2018. Biden is facing three federal charges in the case and could face up to a 25-year prison sentence if convicted.
Hallie Biden, the widow of the president’s late son Beau Biden (who is Hunter’s brother), was one of the recent witnesses to testify. Beau passed away from brain cancer in 2015, and Hunter and Hallie were romantically involved afterwards.
Her testimony has been crucial in detailing Hunter’s drug use and recounting the moment when she discovered and disposed of his gun.
Hallie stated that Hunter introduced her to drugs and expressed regret in court, saying, “I am embarrassed and ashamed of that period of my life.”
Another witness who found the gun that Hallie discarded in a trash can at a grocery store also testified, mentioning that he considered selling it before the police retrieved it from his home.
The prosecution announced plans to call two witnesses on Friday, while the defense intends to call two or three witnesses as well.
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden has made it clear that he will not interfere in any legal repercussions his son may face as a result of the trial. He publicly declared that he would not pardon his son if he is convicted.
