WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — The federal prosecution presented the final witnesses in the gun case against Hunter Biden on Friday in an attempt to prove that he lied on a gun-purchase form about his drug use.
The prosecution called an FBI forensic chemist, Jason Brewer, and a Drug Enforcement Administration agent to testify about evidence related to Hunter Biden’s drug use.
This week’s testimony has focused on the seriousness of his drug addiction, with personal and revealing accounts provided by ex-wife, former girlfriend, and images of Hunter Biden engaging in drug use.
Prosecutors argue that this evidence shows Hunter Biden was lying on the gun-purchase form when he said he was not addicted to drugs.
President Joe Biden, in an interview, stated that he would accept the jury’s verdict and ruled out a pardon for his son. First lady Jill Biden, who attended court proceedings, flew back from France to be at the trial.
The trial involves Hunter Biden facing three felonies related to the gun case and a separate tax case in California. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Hunter Biden’s defense attorney has argued that he did not consider himself an addict when he purchased the gun and did not intend to deceive.
The trial continues as Hunter Biden faces the possibility of up to 25 years in prison if convicted, along with a separate trial in September on tax charges.
