Your next rideshare driver could be armed.
BlackWolf App, a new ride-hailing service with vetted drivers who carry guns, is expanding in the U.S.
The company touts its services as a safer alternative to Uber and Lyft because it exclusively hires drivers with backgrounds in law enforcement, the military, or the security sector.
Originally launched in Atlanta, BlackWolf has now extended its services to Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
BlackWolf assures its customers of safety and peace of mind.
Riders can choose to ride with a screened driver through BlackWolf Premium, or with a screened driver who is also armed through BlackWolf Armed.
The base fare for BlackWolf Premium is $20, while for BlackWolf Armed it’s $30.
“Our pricing is very competitive with Uber Black, and it can sometimes be lower depending on the distance and time,” the company states on its website. “We cater to everyday Americans who want to feel secure without breaking the bank.”
Kerry KingBrown founded the company after a female friend, who was a victim of sex trafficking, inspired him to “enhance women’s safety,” according to BlackWolf.
“BlackWolf App was created to ensure women’s safety from potential harm, and it has evolved into a ride-hailing service for all,” the company explains.
BlackWolf shares that it has received significant feedback from women globally who feel vulnerable or unsafe with other ride-hail services.
“The major ride-hail companies tend to hire anyone as drivers,” says the company.
Riders seeking personal security can submit an email request for a licensed security driver, which can then be arranged through the app.
BlackWolf also caters to events and accommodates group transportation needs, which can also be arranged via email.
Uber and Lyft have regulations prohibiting drivers from carrying firearms, a safety measure implemented by both companies.
