LGBTQ+ professionals have found themselves making adjustments to their personality and presentation in business settings or work environments. LinkedIn data shows that after questioning professionals in the LGBTQ+ community, 66% have sought out an ally in the workplace.
Many respondents mentioned using code-switching, or adjusting mannerisms to gain acceptance in society. LinkedIn’s findings indicate that 74% of LGBTQ+ professionals have resorted to code-switching to avoid negative stereotypes, and 57% feel uncomfortable presenting their full identity at work.
