RED LODGE — The South didn’t start the game as they would have liked.
However, with a strong running game and key pass completions, along with solid defensive stops, the South emerged victorious at Palisades Field at Red Lodge High School.
Their 21-14 win over the North marked their second consecutive victory in the Big Sky Class B All-Star Football Game series, narrowing the North’s lead to just one game, 18-17.
“It means a lot,” said quarterback Shane Williams of Three Forks, who was named the offensive MVP for the South. “I’ve never played with these guys. We got here Wednesday and all came together and worked together as a team to get the job done.”
Red Lodge quarterback Thomas Buchanan, who completed 10 of 18 passes for 92 yards for the South, echoed Williams’ sentiments.

“It’s huge. We love coach White,” said Buchanan. “So ending him on a win was a big thing.”
Although the North initially led 7-0, the South rallied with two touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 14-7 halftime lead. They extended their lead in the third quarter to secure the victory.
Despite a late comeback attempt by the North, the South’s defense held strong and secured the win with a final defensive stand.
“It feels great,” said White after the game. “The kids played hard and buckled down at the end. Winning in Red Lodge, you can’t beat it.”
